Factions Against Super Earth | From Helldivers or Helldivers 2

Helldivers was a real hot topic in the gaming world at the beginning of the year. I'm no stranger to that hype and game time either. Getting into the world of Helldivers 2 was fun and inspired me to make this factions banner. This piece is one I ended up being really proud of. I used a culmination of techniques learned beforehand to create the different faction glyphs and other styles. It was my first work of the year and back from being in such a bad spot the previous year. I had to brush off some rust and it ended up being my favorite work so far.

The Four Class Dwarves | From Deep Rock Galactic

I'm a big fan of Deep Rock Galactic, its esthetic, its developer team, and its community. It was only a matter of time before I ended up creating something related to it. There was a picture I saw a long time ago of pop culture figures that were made to look simple or minimalist. I had always wanted to create something like that, which is the inspiration for this piece. I took each dwarf class' defining features to make them look unique enough, but still keeping the look simplistic.
Fun fact too, Deep Rock Galactic was the first game I ever reviewed on the original Detecdev website.

Roaming Cactuar | From Final Fantasy Series

The creatures of final fantasy have fun designs, so I wanted to try and recreate one of my favorites. For the cactuar, I played around with lighting and shadows. I also tried giving it a sticker look, and I think it turned out really nice! This particular work sparked the idea to turn it into a collection of other Final Fantasy creatures.

Marsh Drawing | 1-Hour Practice

Isometric Marsh | 1.5-Hour Practice

I ended up having the itch to try drawing by hand again, so I ended up starting with a little practice run. Within the hour I gave myself, I looked into some landscape elements. A marsh was chosen for the practice and it ended up turning out nice enough for the time allotted. I just started the shadows but ran out of time for the highlights afterwards. I'd like to try it again and get more details in.
Then I spent a little more time with another marsh. This one ended up being made on an isometric block just for fun. I enjoy the isometric perspective and how it encourages little details.

ATOM Social Credit Coin

I ended up taking a long break from making things for various reasons mid-year. Life got tough for a bit and professional work did as well. I was joking with a work buddy about something which inspired me again funny enough. With that joke and inspiration, I ended up creating the ATOM coin.
I was really happy how this one turned out since making my return. The center atom symbol was given a big brother eye as the nucleus. Along with that, the drab colors both display it as a silver coin and give it that boring corporate feel.
The other part that I'm most excited about is the custom currency symbol on the left of the coin. I did some research on various currency symbols from around the world and created one for ATOM. Now that I'm back in the groove, I'd like to make the tails side of the coin at some point.
